Self Assessment

I feel as if my blog posts meet majority of the rubric requirements but could still use more work. I unfortunately have MLA formatting ingrained into my head. Citations are ok but I feel as if I could improve on them even further. In terms of the effort I am putting in, I try my best with the time I am given from dealing with 4 other classes and my part time job. I feel considerably proud of how I am handling the blogs with these factors in mind. The aspects of the blogs are fairly simple and do not confuse me. I just need to get used to the different style of formatting since I am used to essays. I review my blogs as frequently as I can for spelling and grammar, which is made even easier with the spellchecker blogs come with. As for my blogs being public, I am very comfortable with others seeing my blogs. I feel that it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other a lot better. I also like that I can review other student's blogs and get to know them and provide help. I

Bermuda

The Bermuda is an archipelago of coral islands in the North Atlantic ocean that is parallel to the state of North Carolina. The island is made up of seven tiny islands that mark the northern point of the infamous Bermuda Triangle. It is also home to many historical, cultural, and political events that create lasting effects on the people of the island. Bermuda's economy was carried by the shipping industry, building ships from wood. The island eventually became a manning and ship building center. THere were many racial tensions on the island as well, where Afro- Caribbeans would protest they racism they would endure. Race riots began to sprout across the nation, and there was a call for independence from Bri

Caribbean History

Gian Rendon 2/9/2021 Caribbean History     The Caribbean region is full of plenty historical highlights. Many of the costal regions and islands have conquered other regions or been conquered by other regions. Many eventually claimed independences and these historical events continue to be reflected in the people, food, and culture. One of the settlements in the Caribbean we are going to examine historically is Colombia. As stated in the virtual Caribbean library, Colombia was first settled by the Spanish in 1499, and the first stable settlement on the land was not established until 1510. The first city, Santa Marta, was founded in 1525, followed by Cartagena in 1533. (Fun fact: I have actually been to both of these locations! They are gorgeous.) Eventually, an expedition was started by Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada. They ran into the indigenous people of Colombia, who were decimated through diseases or or violence. The Spanish in the region eventually started importing Africans for labor
